ANNOUNCEMENT!

We have made our move and bought our house... the problem now is, I WORK LIKE A MAD WOMAN! Which isn't really a problem at all, because in truth, I LOVE my job :) So, if I'm not here, it's because I'm working my butt off... and loving every moment of it!

Darn You Rain! I'm NOT in Seattle anymore!!!

As far as my past Memorial Day Weekends go, I have always been back in Washington. And in Washington (particularly the Seattle area) Memorial Day is ALWAYS SUNNY and signifies the beginning of the summertime! So WHY is it that I move to the south where it has been summer-like here for MONTHS and Memorial Day Weekend comes (read: SUMMER STARTS!) and it is POURING DOWN RAIN. ALL THE TIME!!! Did I switch places or something?! What the heck!

The main source of this rant is that yesterday I was mowing the lawn and when I was about 90% done, it started MONSOON RAINING on me. Not kidding. And so then I was going to finish it today and when I was walking to the bedroom to get my lawn mowing clothes on, I heard pounding on the roof. It had started poring AGAIN. So basically, I don't have to mow the lawn today! :) But, I kinda wanted to just get it over with... the lawn looks a little funny. ;)

Anywho... the 5k was AWESOME. I have not had so much fun running in my life. There was a HUGE turnout in support of LT. DAN BERSCHINSKI (be sure to grab his new button to the left!) The hubs wore his ruck with 50lbs in it and ran along side me. (Otherwise, he would have definitely ran off without me because I'm too slow for him...) But the course was BEAUTIFUL. If you haven't been to Peachtree City, GA you must GO. Absolutely beautiful. :) It reminded me of Washington. (Which I consider to be the greatest place on the planet, FYI.)

When we got there, we weren't sure if the Hubs would be able to see Dan... there was no clarification as to whether or not he would be at the race, only that he would be at a ceremony later in the evening... which we would not be able to make it to. (dog boarding thing... they are closed on Sundays and Holidays for pick up, so if we didn't pick them up by 3pm on Saturday, we would have to pay for two extra nights and not be able to pick up until today... LAME!) ANYway... after checking in at 6:30am we got to wait around until the race started at 8am... but guess who showed up around 7:30!! Dan rolled in and was talking to a few guys that immediately surrounded him (looked like maybe dads of friends? or family friends?) The hubs and I stood about 20 feet away waiting for the crowd to clear. While all the guys were talking to Dan, he caught a glimpse of the hubs through the crowd and his face just lit up! While I started crying, the hubs walked over and did the man-shake handshake with Dan (you know what it looks like... the handshake-turn-handgrip-turn-half-hug... yah). And they talked for a few minutes... it was awesome. It made me REALLY happy. :) And it was really encouraging to see Dan looking so happy despite the circumstances.
(I will try to post the pic of the Hubs and Dan together soon... it's on his phone)

Here is proof we did it:
(notice my EXTREMELY red face? THAT is the proof)
We didn't quite reach my goal of finishing under 30min... we finished in 32:40.
We are also looking forward to our next 5k together! We had a ton of fun! I for one, have never enjoyed running with anyone else (my hubs) more! So this is definitely something we look forward to doing again and again!

  3. Congrats on the race and what an incredible story about LT Dan. While incredibly awful and trying, checking out his blog is truly inspiring! A friend of a friend of ours is in recovery in Tampa and seeing the support in our Army family for both of these fine men is incredible.

  6. Yeay, Great job on your race! And happy healing with your wisdome teeth. I know that is not fun at all :( It helps to heal the holes if you can rest and take it easy.
